I am a Person-Centred Counsellor currently seeing clients in a small, comfortable and friendly private practice setting close to Dunstable Town Centre.
Offering a gentle, calm and empathic space for clients to explore, I work in partnership with my client to make sense of and help understand the client’s behaviour, allowing them to make any changes that they feel are necessary to lead a more fulfilling and rewarding life. My belief is that my client is the expert on their own life and my aim is to support them in their process of change. Therapy requires a willingness and commitment from both the client and therapist. It can be challenging, inspiring, hard work, emotional, humorous, and of course rewarding as client move towards their goals.
After experiencing therapy for issues within my own life, I decided that I wanted to find out more about counselling, which resulted in the start of my journey to become a Person-Centred Counsellor.
The empathic, collaborative, non-judgmental space that my therapist offered me facilitated my growth and, I believe, has allowed me to have a greater understanding of what therapeutic conditions may be helpful to my clients. My belief is that counselling is founded on respect and compassion for each individual.
Working in both long term and time limited work, along with clients from a range of ages, backgrounds and cultures, has given me experience to help my clients live their unique life in a way that they would wish.
I have worked with clients in a variety of different settings that include Cruse Bereavement Care, St Joseph’s Hospice Bereavement Service, MIND Mental Health Charity and a College of Further Education.
Issues I have worked with include stress, relationship issues, anger, anxiety, illness, depression, bereavement, affairs and betrayals, abuse, disabilities, trauma, stress, domestic violence, learning difficulties, redundancy, self-harm and OCD.
