I would describe myself as kind, respectful and empathic, deep, reflective and intuitive, all of which are qualities that assist me in my role and in my effectivity as a Counsellor

As a person I am led by my moral compass which sits closely in line with my professional, moral and ethical compass.  This closeness I feel, brings a natural transparency, authenticity and realness to my way of being as a Counsellor.  My approach is Person Centred. My belief in the potential of Therapeutic Change was formed throughout my training, grounded further through personal experience, also in working alongside clients.

My aim as a counsellor is to facilitate a safe and accepting space which invites trust, growth and exploration of, for example, personal difficulties and experiences.  Where new insights, perceptions, understanding and acceptance may be found, maybe a new way forward. Empathically and without judgement, I respectfully seek to understand your world, from your perspective.  Through the development of trust in our relationship and of a growing insight into your experience, I endeavour to be fully present, to walk alongside you as we explore together, your world as you see and experience it, at your pace.  As the journey unfolds this may invite new discoveries, insights and acceptance including understanding how experiences can shape our way of being, our self-concept and view of our inner and outer world.

My experience includes working with clients in a Residential Addiction Rehabilitation Centre.  Supporting clients alongside their incredibly brave and deeply unfolding journey during and following detox, as they worked through deeper underlying issues beneath their presenting addiction, often painful experiences such as trauma and abuse.  Working alongside clients as they come to terms with experiences and process raw emotions such as guilt and shame. Other issues that I have worked with included relational issues such as social, attachment, co-dependency. Identity, dissociation, suicidal ideation, loss, depression and anxiety.

I also have experience with working with young people age 10-25 in a local Counselling Service.  In addition to this I also work with young people in a Secondary School.  Some of the issues that I have worked with are self-harm, abuse, trauma, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, sexuality, identity, anger, loss, parental separation, domestic violence.
